This family is new to the studio, and what a fun first session we had! They were looking for Cape Cod family photography and I knew just where to take them. With every family looking for a beach session, I also always take into account tides, crowds, and sunset times. With careful planning, a beach is a really wonderful place for a family session!
The beach we chose was absolutely beautiful and their three girls were sweet as can be. We ended up with one of the largest finished collections I have ever presented from a family session. The mom wanted to fill a few existing frames in her home – I think we are going to need more frames!
This first image is from towards the end of our session, but a pretty fun way to start the blog post!
We started the session on the boardwalk. I love this location because of it’s variety of backgrounds and huge potential. Beaches are wonderful in general, but this one has so much more to offer! The family walked along this boardwalk to get warmed up for their session. Mom did an amazing job getting outfits together for the whole group!
Then the girls got a little silly – which is perfect for what we wanted to capture. I love how each of their personalities come out in this series! And the little one standing on a pile of sand to be taller next to her sisters is just genius.
After photos together it was time to head back to the grass for some individual portraits.
Then the three girls found an interesting hermit crab and took a moment to watch it.
We moved around the beach as the light changed and sun set. The expression on the youngest sister is just priceless! They all have great smiles and were wonderful to photograph.
More hermit crabs! Can’t pass up an opportunity to see those little guys in action. Plus, it makes for a great photo op 🙂
