One of my favorite sessions every year! I have been a Lexington family photographer for some time now and always love the people I meet there. I spend about 1/2 a day in this families home, photographing the kids and what they love to do individually and together. The first part of the day is structured like an Unscripted Chaos session. I spend about 40 minutes with each child, following their direction in their own environment and capturing each one’s personality. It’s always wonderful to be able to photograph the more unstructured moments, as those are really the ones that are treasures as time moves on. Then we end the day with a more traditional session, and few portraits of all four children together.
First I spent some time with the oldest daughter, who loves to read and play with her dolls. I love that in a hectic house, with lots of children, this image is so quiet.
In addition to unscripted moments, each child also had a more traditional portrait taken.
Next it was off to the second daughter’s room. She sung songs, introduced me to all of her animals, and put on every bracelet in the house! A very sweet girl to be around and so much fun to photograph!
Both boys hung out together, playing trains and jostling for the best spot on the bed. How great is that sign on the eldest boy’s wall? I need that for my two boys!
Finally, it was time for some one-on-one with the oldest boy. He was quiet and comfortable hanging out in his room. I love the look of concentration on his face as he fixes and builds.
Lastly, it was a quick outfit change and it was outside for portraits! Each child had a moment alone for one, then all together. The kids were a little restless, but having them all snuggle then yell together seemed to do the trick for the perfect group photos!
