I photographed this family for the first time about a week ago and our goal was candid, fun images. They were looking for a North shore family photographer who could capture two little boys and all of their energy. As a mom of two boys I have that in the bag! We lucked out with a beautiful afternoon and the spot they chose for photos was gorgeous!
The littlest subject in the family was not into what we were doing (even with changing locations, playing, etc), but mom, dad, and older brother too were so positive and energetic that their final collection is a lot of fun! This is such a great example of how beautiful moments come out of what seems like chaos.
When I first arrived, we tried the boys in a beautiful spot about half way down to the water. They did enjoy sitting on the railing and getting lots of snuggles from Mom and Dad!
Then it was down to the dock for some playing as a family. When kids are restless, the best thing to do is get them playing with an adult in the photograph. As a photographer herself, this mom knew all the same tricks I did!
I love these two images together. Dad got the oldest son to smile like that by flipping him over! Giggles galore!
This one is definitely one of my favorites from our session together. The light is nice and soft, I love background and the oldest son leaning in for a forehead snuggle is just perfect!
Mom wanted some photos of her and each of her children. As a photographer, sometimes those are the ones missing from the family albums. I have that problem too! I totally understood what she meant and we worked together to get the images she wanted.
Finally, at the end of the session, sometimes with little ones the best thing to do is move them around. Playing airplane almost always does the trick! What a sweet image of this family of four!
