I have so many wedding clients from the Norwood area, it only makes sense that I am now also a Norwood children’s photographer! Lucas turned one a few weeks ago, and I got to spend some time with him and his parents in their home. I love watching one year olds cruise around with their newfound mobility.
We started by spending a moment with Lucas – without a camera – just to get him comfortable with me. Then him, his mom, and I moved to Lucas’s bookshelf. He loved showing me his favorites! He “read” books with his mom for a moment as we got warmed up. I also got a peek at some favorite stuffed animals and a plastic red pepper. Kids are attracted to the funniest toys sometimes!
Even in the beginning, Lucas had some really expressive moments. I love that you can see the curiosity in his face as he talks to his lion.
Then it was time to add mom and dad into the session! They were so wonderful to work with, and naturally looked so playful and loving with Lucas. The image below shows then near the baby crib. Something the little guy will soon grow out of. I also love the two stuffed animals snuggling on the shelf in the left of the image. It mimics what the family is doing. I stood in the hallway for this shot and chose to include the doorframe. This gives the moment a very private, un-staged feel. Every once in a while I will take an image and think “I wish I had that of me and my kids”. This is definitely one of them.
Playing with mom and dad is the best! Each parent took turns with Lucas as he flew, played music, and read some more.
Lucas then spent some time showing off his crawling! He is a fast one! I saw this pool of light between the playroom and living room and knew it would make for a nice image. Each image I deliver to a client has a purpose. The top one is to show how small Lucas is. They grow fast and it’s so nice to have a little perspective! The next ones show his personality as he is crawling free on the floor.
We couldn’t quite stand solo, but this image shows progress, and also has Dad as a measuring stick and support. And those sweet little barefoot toes in the sunlight!
Some more snuggles on the sofa with mom and dad. And a little block chewing, too 🙂
Finally, we went outside to have a ride in Lucas’s birthday sled!
