As a Mansfield family photographer, I love to see these smiling faces each year! This family has been coming to me for a few years now, and each time it gets more and more fun! The boys are so polite and sweet, with huge smiles. This mom chooses the greatest outfits for their sessions. Last year’s session was batman, this year they have moved to dinosaurs!
The wind was strong, as expected, out but we pressed ahead with the session because I knew the images would look great, thanks to the warm sunshine. We started at the front of the park, using the stone backdrop and that great backlit tree. Then moved into the open grass. The light blue shirts on the boys looked great against the neutral tones and textures.
I love the expression on the youngest boy in the image below. This whole series looks so great in black and white! Absolutely timeless! When I photograph family sessions, I make sure to get images that I know are going to be useable together. We want candid expressions, for sure, but we also want visually appealing wall displays! The three images above are meant to go together, as are the three black and white images below. If it were my house, I would go with the black and whites. Choice is a good thing, though, so it’s great to have a few options!
A must-have image for any chaosLoved session is the whole family standing (baby’s in arms). It’s so sweet to see how little the kids are, and to have them looking up at mom and dad. They won’t be looking up for long! Kids grow too fast!
Then after the image of everyone standing to get perspective, we move to a different pose where everyone’s faces are much closer together. Snuggling and giggling are both musts for family sessions!
The expression on the littlest brother below is the best I saw all day! He really lights up with that smile!
On go the dinosaur sweaters! Those little spikes on top of their heads are priceless!
This one is my favorite. Hands down! I love the light, I love everyone’s expressions, and I love that the child on the left is mid-stride and off of the ground. That orange tree against the blues in their outfits works really well, too!
Last year we grabbed the cutest walking-away shot of the boys. Mom wanted the same thing year. Was a little harder, with three instead of two, but we did it!
Finally, it was time to leave the park. Great job, as usual boys!
